National Theatre Wales Call Out for Singers

Local singing group 'Singing for Life', which meets at The Muse every Monday from 10.30am to 12 noon, have been invited to take part in a joint project between National Theatre for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre.  "Before I Leave” is a funny, moving and uplifting production written by Tredegar-born poet and playwright Patrick Jones featuring versions of songs made famous by the likes of Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Gerry, The Sex Pistols and more. The play will also feature brand new songs written for the show by Nicky Wire & James Dean Bradfield from Manic Street Preachers.  Brecon Singing for Life would welcome new members to join them in this exciting project.

National Theatre Wales is staging the play by Patrick Jones about issues of dementia and is running a community outreach project alongside the play. As mentioned above, they are going to be working with the Singing for Life Group (and two other singing groups in other parts of Wales) to make a short film.  Patrick Jones, the playwright, has written a play and his brother, who is in the band 'Manic Street Preachers' has written a song.  Patrick will be coming to the singing session at the Muse on Monday 14th March and then for the next few sessions. As part of each session, he will teach the participants the song and then later it will be filmed.  The play, which is being presented as part of The Festival of The Voice, will be shown at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff from 27th May to 11th June 2016.  Click here for full details of the production, or click here for details of Brecon Singing for Life.
