Dementia Support Service
The service provides one to one support to people with dementia and carers and can be provided face to face, over the telephone or via written communication. Dementia Support Workers provide information, guidance and practical support to help people understand dementia, cope with day to day living with dementia and prepare for the future. The service also supports people to access other services.

Befriending - Side by Side
The Befriending service provides companionship in a person’s own home or during outings and activities in the community to enable a person to continue to do the activities they enjoy or to try new activities. The service is specific to each person’s needs and is decided in agreement with them. The Telephone Befriending Service provides an opportunity for carers to have regular conversation over the telephone to talk about things that are of interest. Brecon Carers Information and Support Programme
The Carer Information and Support Programme 1 is an education programme for carers, family members and friends of people with a recent diagnosis of dementia. The topics covered include: understanding dementia, legal and money matters, providing support and care, coping with dementia day to day and identifying sources of support. Advocacy - Voice and Choice
The Advocacy service helps a person to understand their rights and provides information and support to empower a person to make informed choices and decisions. The service is specific to each person’s needs. The Advocate can represent and speak on behalf of a person if they are unable to do so themselves.
