Brecon and Hay Dementia Supportive Community warmly invites you to attend a public meeting to explore the potential for setting up a Meeting Centre Support Programme in the Brecon area. This centre would provide accessible, practical information, personal advice, emotional and social support for those living with dementia and their carers and families.
Such low-cost, community-based meeting centres have been successfully implemented in the Netherlands for over ten years.
The meeting will take place on Thursday 19th May 2016, 11am -1pm at Theatr Brycheiniog and has been set up in association with the Worcester University Association of Dementia Studies, which has successfully supported the establishment of two such centres in Droitwich Spa and Leominster. A member of the support team from the Droitwich Spa Centre will share with us how their centre was set up; practicalities, requirements, potential barriers, but most of all the enormous benefits of such a centre to those living with dementia, their carers and families.
Please do come along, and support us in moving towards making Brecon an even more Dementia Friendly Community.
We very much hope you can join us.
