Brecon U3A Support a Dementia Friendly Brecon

Dementia Champion, Joan Brown, delivered a Dementia Friends Session on 8th January 2015 to members of Brecon U3A.  Joan says "We all enjoyed the afternoon.  It was a really interactive group and the session was very well received.  It is so good to have the support of the U3A members  and we have made nine new Dementia Friends."

Festive Support from Cor Meibion

This year, Cor Meibion Aberhonddu members decided not to send Christmas cards to each other, but rather contribute to a local charity. The committee chose two charities, one of which is Making Brecon a Dementia Friendly Community. Our grateful thanks to all the choir members for their thoughtfulness and generosity.

Joan Bakewell speaks of her fear of dementia

Now in her 80s, one issue looms ahead for Joan Bakewell and others from her generation - the fear of dementia. She admits that she's becoming increasingly forgetful. Her home is decked with post-it note reminders to help her remember.
